Soap stings if you get it in your eyes. It's fairly easy to prevent the soap from getting into a tiny baby's eyes, but this becomes harder as they get older and move around more. The brief sting of the soap will not damage their eyes, and it will go away momentarily. My kids got soap in their eyes all the time, but if you are concerned about the sting, you'll need to stay away from soap products.
