What is a SECONDS batch? For any product or soap it's when it doesn't quite live up to our standards. This Castile bar is in our Seconds category due to the soap turning a deep golden color as the soap cured with DOS spots. Our Castile bars have to cure for over 6 months, so the change in color started to happen towards the end of its curing time and we suspect DOS. What is DOS? DOS happens every once in a while and means an oil in the mix is going or has gone rancid, but the soap is still safe to use. The appearance of DOS can range from a light orange to a deep rust color and soap with dreaded orange spots is safe to use as it is a cosmetic issue. Because this soap is imperfect, we've reduced the price. We've tested the pH, and have used the soap ourselves, and other than the scent being mild and the color being off, it's still a wonderful creamy bar. This soap will not come in a wrapper.
100% organic olive oil soap, a true Castile soap, beautifully scented with lavender essential oil. Olive Oil is high in oleic acid, a good skin cell regenerator and attracts external moisture to the skin. A true Castile soap is the most gentle and mild of soaps, safe even for babies and those with ultra-delicate skin. You will not get a bubbly lather from a Castile soap bar, but rather a rich, thick, creamy highly emollient lather that is perfect for shaving. True Castile soaps made with only olive oil are a gentle and effective option for even the most sensitive of skin.
