Product Overview
This unique shampoo bar features white kaolin “China” clay, the most gentle of all the clays and recommended for all skin types, especially dry, aging skin. Sometimes used as a hair masque to breathe life back into dry, brittle hair, China clay is also ideal for sensitive skin and for removing toxins. It contains silica, a natural ingredient that provides slip and shine to the hair shaft.
We’ve added natural silk protein which contains 18 different amino acids that are a very close match to the chemical composition of human skin and hair. First the silk penetrates the hair shaft and skin, and as it dries it imparts a silky soft shine and smooth texture you will love! The oil line up in this bar is fabulous: mango butter, apricot and almond oils, and organic jojoba.
The final touch on this bar is the exotic scent of ylang ylang, an expensive, sophisticated floral essential oil used widely in perfumery. A touch of pink grapefruit adds a bit of sweetness. This shampoo bar is a good choice for extra dry or textured hair. It also makes boat loads of lather; a perfect choice for shaving!

If you've never used a solid shampoo bar in your hair, you may wonder "how do I do that?" It's easy. Just get your hair wet, take the bar and rub it all over your scalp and hair. Put the bar down and work it into a wonderful lather. You may find that the first time you use a shampoo/body bar in your hair it feels different. Using natural ingredients is not going to give you the same feeling chemically laden choices do because the natural oils are not being stripped away. In addition, your hair may require a transition process before it is fully free of all the other chemicals and residues from prior hair products. You can read more about this transition process HERE.

just a couple weeks of using shampoo bars
I just started using shampoo bars about a month ago, and dreaded the "transition period" many people talk about when taking a more natural hair care route. I was excited to try Apple valley bars, and so far this one seems to work best for my hair out of the various samples I've tried. Amazing! My hair is extremely thin and oily at the roots and dry at the ends, but not with this bar! It does such a great job at cleaning while not drying out your hair. My hair is also very thin, fine, and straight so this bar doesn't just work well with dry, thick curly hair types! :) The bar doesn't have much of a smell to be honest, but it works so well I don't mind. Actually, I had used another shampoo bar that smelled a bit stronger and while my hair smelled great at first, as the couple days wore on, it smelled a little odd (like my hair was definitely ready for a wash). SO I love the white china silk bar!

Great Conditioning Bar
I debated whether to give this bar four or five stars. I love the smell of this one (clean, lightly citrusy), and it has left my hair extremely soft and manageable. It has a smooth lather, my hair feels as though I did a deep conditioning treatment on it, and the shine is unreal. Even my husband says it looks extra smooth. My hair does feel a tiny bit heavy, although it doesn't look it. It could just be the result of the silk protein. I'm usually able to wait until day four after wash day to wash again, but I suspect I might need to wash again a bit sooner, which is the reason I considered taking away a star. The heaviness I'm feeling could be because I skipped the vinegar rinse, though, so I'm giving the shampoo the benefit of the doubt. My hair does not feel coated or waxy, just weightier. I think this bar is probably perfect for people with curly hair, or with dry and damaged hair. This will be a definite go-to when I feel I need a little extra conditioning!

Feels Luxurious
I don't use this for my hair but I love it as a body bar. I have very dry skin and it helps to keep me from having to use so much lotion. Even in the winter which is wonderful!

Way better than I expected.
Initially, I liked the smell of the bar-to me, it was more of a grapefruit scent. When I began lathering, the lather felt really slick, almost like I was rubbing conditioner into my hair, only it foamed up like shampoo. The lather was really slick, but felt wonderful. I was a little nervous as I rinsed my hair, and tried to make sure I got it all out. While my hair was drying, I was nervous because it felt like I may have left some shampoo in my hair, but I waited it out. My hair was shiny, soft, not oily, and tame. I was very very impressed. I would say this bar is one of my favorite ones so far. But I still have many more to try :)

Not the best for hair
I love a lot of the Apple Valley soap bars, but I have to say this one is not my favorite. My hair felt a lot stickier with this bar, while my other favorites left my hair feeling clean, soft, and smelling great. This would be good for an anti-aging body bar for someone with dry skin though.

Rich, Creamy Lather!
This was my first shampoo bar and what a treat! I cannot believe how it lathers up and makes my hair so clean. I have fine, curly hair and it gives it volume and a fresh scent. It makes my skin fell so soft as well. Gone are the loads of lotions and potions I relied on for so many years!

Wonderful
I was planning on using it as a body/shaving bar to begin with, but I wasn't as pleased with the results on my hair, as compared with the latte brunette shampoo bar. It would probably work great on blonde hair. As far as a shaving & body bar, it's wonderful. It has a great lather. Since I use the latte brunette on my hair, and since I love the body-only bars for their moisturizing properties, I probably won't keep getting a third bar just for shaving. That kind of defeats the purpose of these bars being all-in-one, at least for me. Otherwise, I would keep buying this bar, as I love the scent!

Didn't clean as well
Great for the body but did leave my hair with a film. Smells delicious

Nice for body but doesn't work for my shampoo.
Smells Great! Awesome lather and 'feel' but don't love as a shampoo. Wonderful for a body soap but left my hair feeling 'heavy'.
